How to Avoid Stress on Your Wedding Day
Weddings can be really stressful and honestly there are so many factors that can play into that. Luckily there are some things that can help you minimize stress in advance. In this post I will share a few tips to help make your special day a little less stressful.
Have a Solid Wedding Timeline and Allow Extra Time for the Unexpected
I think a really big part of avoiding stress on your wedding day is not rushing things. Too often I see couples trying to cram too many activities in too short a time frame and it just adds unneeded stress. Avoid having to do things you don't want on your wedding day and keep things as simple as you'd like.
Put Someone Else in Charge of Running Your Day
Another big key to not holding onto too much stress on your wedding day is offloading the things that cause it. I'm a firm believer in my couples having some form of day of coordinators or wedding planners. This person's job is to run the show for you. By allowing someone else to make sure the flowers have arrived on location, coordinating with the DJ, or whatever it may be, allows you to experience your special day. It doesn't even necessarily have to be a professional, but make sure that on your day you're able to sit and enjoy rather than organize and decorate.
Pick Your Priorities
Not everything can be a priority at your wedding so pick the things that are most important to you. Is the location important, is it your dress, flowers, or the food? You can obviously have multiple priorities but realize what's most important to you and put your effort and energy there.
Do Your Own Thing and Set Boundaries
Avoid the pressures of those around you by setting boundaries early on of what you're doing for your day. This can be anything from traditions you don't want to do, to location, or even the size of your wedding. If you don't enjoy being around a large amount of people then have a small wedding. Set up an environment that will allow you to relax and just enjoy your day.
Lastly, Ask for Help!
Don’t be afraid to ask for help, from vendors, friends, family, or whoever. Don't put it all on yourself and allow for those that want to help to help you out.
At the end of the day a wedding day is just a day, but it is also the start of your marriage. It's important to start your marriage off with a day of happiness and not immense amounts of stress. I know a lot of this is easier said than done but hopefully these few tips can help you avoid some stress on your wedding day.
